Friends of Lizzie Garrett Mettler gathered at the historic Glen Rowan House on the evening of May 5 to applaud the new author for her recently launched book Tomboy Style: Beyond the Boundaries of Fashion.
Daughter of State Senator and Lake Forest resident Susan Garrett, Lizzie signed copies of her book and mingled with guests about what inspires her. Released on April 3, the book has been lauded by The New York Times and Harper’s Bazaar, and has been endorsed by fashion labels such as J.Crew and Rugby Ralph Lauren. A visual history that chronicles the past 80 years of women who blur the line between masculine and feminine, Tomboy Style explores the evolution of the style and its icons.
